This is a RED Gemischter Satz, a Viennese field blend of grapes co-planted and co-fermented together, and it is pure fun in a glass. Jutta Ambrositsch, one of Vienna's leading natural growers, makes it from a handful of rows planted in the 1980s: Zweigelt, Sankt Laurent, Blauburger, Merlot, and a few white grapes tossed in. It is whole-cluster, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and comes across bright, juicy, and lightly cloudy. Give the bottle a gentle shake, serve it with a chill, and don't take it too seriously.
