The Story
Caroline Morey comes from one of Chassagne-Montrachet's oldest winemaking families ââŹâ her father is Jean-Marc Morey, and her husband is Pierre-Yves Colin, with whom she shares a cellar. In 2014 she struck out on her own with a parcel of prized family vineyards, and her wines now sit near the apex of what red and white Burgundy can do. This Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge is the village's underrated red side: Pinot Noir grown on the same famous slopes as the great whites, made with indigenous yeasts and a deft touch. With a few years of age, it's drinking beautifully ââŹâ silky, perfumed and finely detailed. A connoisseur's Chassagne.
