The Story
Haut-Marbuzet is the cult overachiever of Saint-Estephe, a Cru Bourgeois that many drinkers rank alongside classed growths, famous for its rich, generous, oak-kissed style that earned it a devoted following. Built by the late Henri Duboscq, it leans on a high proportion of Merlot for a Saint-Estephe and ages in a large share of new oak, giving it an unusually plush, hedonistic character for the firm northern Medoc. The 2000 is the draw here: a celebrated, ripe millennial vintage, now fully mature and showing the dark fruit, smoke and spice this wine is known for, softened by two decades in bottle. Decant and enjoy.
