The easiest, most immediate way into one of the Loire's promising new estates. Les Pleurs - named for the tears of sap that weep from the vines each spring - is Clos Thierriere's calling-card Vouvray, a blend of Chenin Blanc from several terroirs around Vernou-sur-Brenne, tank-aged on fine lees for freshness rather than oak. Twin brothers Guillaume and Baptiste Frey founded the domaine in 2021 and farm organically; where their old-vine Les Murs is deep and structured, this is bright, direct, and made to drink now. And it's dry (sec) - all of Chenin's crunch and cut with none of the sweetness people sometimes expect from Vouvray. A terrific everyday white.
