The Story

Here's a wine born from a technicality that turned into a gift. 'Sursis' grows in the village of Chateau-Chalon, hallowed ground reserved for Savagnin and vin jaune, which means Chardonnay planted here can't use the name and gets declassified to Cotes du Jura. Tissot planted it anyway on soil too good to ignore, and the name (French for 'reprieve') is a wink at the whole situation. Farmed biodynamically and made ouille to stay fresh rather than oxidative, the 2023 draws structure and minerality from the Lias limestone, marl, and clay beneath those famous slopes. It's proof that great terroir doesn't care what the rulebook says.
