The Story
Sancerre gets all the attention, but drive west toward Bourges and Quincy is quietly making some of the Loire's most honest Sauvignon Blanc. This is the old-vine flagship from Domaine de Villalin, grown on alluvial silex (flint) and gravel that trap the day's heat and hand-harvested by a family that's farmed here for five generations — part of it still plowed by horse. Fermented with native yeasts and raised in tank, no oak, so it stays crisp, saline and true to the grape. A serious Loire white that doesn't ask you to spend Sancerre money.
