The Story

If Vin Jaune shows the Jura's wild, oxidative side, this is the opposite: Savagnin made fresh, precise and topped-up, the way d'Angerville makes Chardonnay in Volnay. 'Grand Curoulet' comes from a single north-facing lieu-dit above Arbois — reputedly where the very first vines of the region were planted — and it's aged in neutral 500-liter oak with no oxidative handling at all. About a third of the fruit sees a single night on the skins, adding subtle texture and grip without heaviness. What you get is Savagnin behaving like a great white Burgundy: saline, cut, and mineral, with citrus and orchard-fruit clarity. A single-vineyard bottling that shows just how serious this grape can be when it's played straight.
