The Story

Edouard Confuron represents the sixth generation of a Vosne-Romanée winemaking dynasty with roots tracing to the legendary Jayer family. In 2021, he founded his own small estate—just 1.5 to 2 hectares across the Côte de Nuits—while continuing to collaborate with his family's holdings. Aux Allots is a Premier Cru climat in the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges, sitting just below the celebrated Murgers and Les Boudots vineyards. At 230-250 meters elevation with east-facing exposure, the site's pebbly limestone, silt, and clay soils deliver wines with the structure of Nuits and a hint of Vosne-Romanée elegance from its proximity to that commune. Confuron favors whole-cluster fermentation when conditions allow, farming organically with biodynamic principles. The 2022 vintage surprised many: despite a hot summer, timely August rains preserved freshness. These wines show energy and balance uncommon for such a warm year. Ready to enjoy young, though patience will reward.
