The Story
Etienne Calsac took over his grandparents' vines around Avize in 2010 at twenty-six and quietly became one of the Côte des Blancs' most exciting young growers. L'Échappée Belle—"the great escape"—is his calling card: 100% Chardonnay from Premier Cru chalk, farmed organically and built on a perpetual reserve so there's always older wine adding depth. Dosed Extra Brut, it stays bone-dry and lets that famous chalky minerality do the talking. This is grower Champagne with a real point of view, from a name worth following. A Blanc de Blancs for people who want the chalk, not the sugar.
