The Story
The Northern Rhône négoce wine that taught a generation what Saint-Joseph could be. Jean-Louis Chave launched the Selections range in 1995 as a négociant arm of the legendary Hermitage estate, and Offerus has been its calling card from day one. The fruit comes from eastern-facing granite slopes in the appellation's heartland - Mauves, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, with northern parcels around Serrières - much of it now farmed personally by Chave himself, including the old vines of Les Clos Florentin (bought in 2009). Half-destemmed, native-yeast fermented in wood and steel, aged eighteen months in barriques and foudres. Honest, granite-cut Syrah at a working-week price.
