Griotte-Chambertin is the smallest Grand Cru in Gevrey Chambertin, named for the size and shape of the limestone pebbles in the vineyard. Maison Joseph Drouhin has a prime parcel. The 2018 plays the warm, generous side of the vintage with restraint: silky and perfumed, with dark fruits, rose petal, and savory spice unfolding over a mineral, classically Gevrey core. Ample early-drinking pleasure now, with the structure to reward another decade or more in a cool cellar.
