Old-school Cornas from a beloved traditionalist whose cellar sits in the center of the village. Marcel Juge makes barely 150 cases of 100% Syrah a year, hand-picked from steep granite hillsides, fermented whole-cluster under a submerged cap, aged in old demi-muids and bottled unfiltered. The 2014 was a cooler, terroir-driven Northern Rhone vintage, and Cornas's steep, well-draining slopes shone, lacing the wine with the appellation's savory, mineral signature. The result is a fresher, classically styled Juge. Decant and serve with hearty food.
