Napa Chardonnay with backbone. PlumpJack, the Newsom-Getty estate that helped pioneer screw-capped luxury Cabernet in Napa, takes the same uncompromising approach to its Reserve Chardonnay. The 2023 draws from two vineyards at opposite poles of the valley: cool, fog-swept Los Carneros for tension and acidity, and warmer St. Helena for richness and depth. Fermentation runs two-thirds in stainless steel and one-third in French oak barrels, and crucially, the wine skips malolactic fermentation entirely. The result is Chardonnay with energy intact, orchard fruit and lemon oil framing a crisp, mineral-driven core, with just enough barrel polish to add texture without weight.
