Feinherb is the Saar's word for gently off-dry, and Stefan Muller nails the balance: a whisper of sweetness pulled taut by the kind of racing, wind-whipped acidity this cold corner of the Mosel is famous for. Muller is a young grower who put the Saar's forgotten slate vineyards back on the map, and this is his most affordable way in. It comes off the red slate of Herrenberg, which lends a little peppery lift. Low in alcohol, high on energy, it drinks fresh rather than sugary. Note: this is a pre-arrival, landing mid-July.
