The Story
Stefan Vetter is leading a quiet revolution in Franken, elevating Silvaner to serious, soil-driven heights. The āGKā (short for Grosse Lage Kalk, or āGrand Cru Limestoneā) bottling comes from some of his oldest, most prized parcelsāsteep slopes with limestone-rich soils, farmed organically and vinified with almost no intervention.
The 2021 vintage is taut and restrained. Aromas of pear skin, crushed herbs, chamomile, and salty citrus lead into a palate thatās textured but leanāmore mineral than fruit, with finely etched acidity and a phenolic edge that brings quiet power and persistence. Aged in neutral oak and bottled unfiltered, the wine hums with energy and place.
Itās a Silvaner that rewards attention and patienceāmore white Burgundy in attitude than easy German white. Pair with root vegetables, roasted chicken, or alpine cheeses. Silvaner GK 2021 is proof that this grape, in the right hands and soils, can age, speak, and inspire.
