A standard-bearer for traditionally made Chianti Classico, from one of the region's most thoughtful, philosophical winemakers: Castell'in Villa, in the Berardenga hills near Castelnuovo Berardenga in southern Chianti Classico. The estate has long made age-worthy, Sangiovese-driven wines built for the table and the cellar, with none of the modern gloss. The 2016 was a superb Tuscan vintage - balanced, ripe and structured - making this a classic-styled Chianti Classico that drinks well now and will reward a few more years.
