The Story

Sylvie Vacheron's Clos du Caillou, certified organic since 2010 with significant biodynamic cultivation, produces this thoughtfully balanced Southern RhĂŽne white from 65% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc, and 15% Viognier. Hand-picked grapes are whole-cluster pressed, cold-settled overnight, then cool-fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for four months. The extended lees contact adds textural depth while maintaining mineral purity. The 2021 Southern RhĂŽne vintage was challenging—April frosts dramatically cut yields and a cool summer delayed ripening—but white wines emerged consistently excellent with crisp, fresh character at unusually low alcohol. La RĂ©serve shows pale gold with green reflections, elegant pink grapefruit and butter on the nose, and a smooth, savory palate perfect with bouillabaisse or crab. A racy, bright wine with floral garrigue and lemon blossom at its core.
