The Story
A unicorn from one of the Veneto's most obsessive estates. Romano Dal Forno reinvented Valpolicella from his property in Val d'Illasi, east of the Classico zone, with punishingly low yields and fanatical attention in cellar and vineyard. This Recioto is the sweet, dried-grape expression: Corvina-led fruit raisined on mats, then fermented to leave concentrated residual sugar. The 1997 is a benchmark vintage now fully mature, a wine to pour in small glasses after dinner. A 375ml half is the perfect format for a wine this rich. Decant gently and don't expect a young wine.
