The Story
Bodegas CARO is a joint venture between Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and the Catena family, conceived in 1998-1999 with a first vintage in 2000. The name combines CA (Catena) + RO (Rothschild). Since 2003, wines have been vinified in a heritage building with underground cellars dating to 1884. Vineyards span LujĂĄn de Cuyo and Uco Valley at 800-1,400 meters elevation. Lafite contributes Cabernet Sauvignon expertise; Catena brings Malbec and high-altitude terroir knowledge. Currently led by Laura Catena and Saskia de Rothschild. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec representing both families' signatures.
