The Nowack family has roots in VandiĂšres dating to 1795, originally as brickmakers before becoming Champagne producers after WWI. Today, Frederic Nowack and his son Flavien run the 3.6-hectare estate. Flavien took over management in 2011 after training in Burgundy, including at the renowned Coche-Dury in Meursault. Les Arpents Rouges comes from a single parcel in VandiĂšres planted in 1987 on clay sandstone soilsâhistorically used for still red wine, hence the name. The blend is 60% Pinot Meunier and 40% Chardonnay, fermented spontaneously in 228L barrels with no chaptalization, fining, filtering, or added sulfur at any point.
