Himmelreich—Kingdom of Heaven—and in a vintage like 2024, the name rings especially true. The Prüm family has tended Mosel vines for over four hundred years, and their Graacher holdings sit on steep, south-facing slopes of weathered blue Devonian slate, shot through with underground water veins that supply vines year-round. The 2024 vintage produced the Mosel's smallest harvest in half a century—April frosts, relentless fungal pressure, and heavy rains slashed yields by thirty percent—but the long, cool ripening season and abundant water drove minerals from the slate deep into the fruit. The result is a Kabinett of ethereal lightness and electric minerality: lemon, herbs, stone fruit, and wet slate, with the kind of bright, dancing acidity that makes Mosel Riesling unlike anything else on earth.
