The Story

The estate that proved the Languedoc could rival Bordeaux and Burgundy makes a white as singular as its famous red. Mas de Daumas Gassac sits high in a wild valley near Aniane in the Herault, where Aime Guibert planted vines in 1971 on glacial limestone soils a Bordeaux geologist likened to the Cote d'Or. The Blanc is an unoaked, exuberantly aromatic blend built around Viognier with Petit Manseng, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and a handful of rare varieties. Farmed organically since the start, it drinks beautifully now but has a track record for aging. A fascinating, distinctly Southern French take on the white blend.
