The Meroi estate was founded in 1920 by Domenico Meroi in Buttrio, in the heart of Friuli's Colli Orientali. Now run by great-grandson Paolo, the estate has earned recognition for crafting some of Italy's most complex white wines from their nearly 50 acres of organically-farmed vineyards. The defining characteristic of this terroir is "ponca"âa unique blend of marl and sandstone from ancient Eocene seas that imparts distinctive mineral complexity.
