The Pratesi family has been producing wine in the Carmignano area for five generations, since Pietro Pratesi purchased the Lolocco estate in 1875. The winery was formalized in 1983 and is now run by Fabrizio Pratesi, who also serves as President of the Consorzio di Tutela dei Vini Carmignano. Located just 20 minutes from Florence, Carmignano is one of the few Italian appellations where Sangiovese is historically blended with French varietals introduced by the Medici. However, Locorosso (named after the original estate) is 100% Sangiovese, classified as IGT Toscana. From 10 hectares farmed organically, it shows wild cherry, tobacco, and spice with a dense, approachable character. Tuscan comfort wine from a historic family.
