Originally founded in 1862 by German immigrant Jacob Schram, re-established in 1965 by Jack and Jamie Davies. Located south of Calistoga on Diamond Mountain with caves hand-dug in the 1860s still in use. First American winery to produce mĂ©thode traditionnelle sparkling wine from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 1972, Schramsberg was served at Nixon's historic "Toast to Peace" in Beijingâthe first California wine served by a U.S. President abroad.
